Glide Along Dal Lake
No trip to Srinagar can be considered complete without a shikara ride on the Dal Lake. A thousand charming houseboats, lovely shikaras and floating gardens of flowers and vegetables dot its glazed surface, a lot of which is carpeted by lotus blooms.

Pari Mahal

A 17th-century structure made of arched niches and stone walls set high above the shores of Dal Lake, Pari Mahal, literally meaning 'Palace of Fairies' is worth visiting for the great views of the serene lake. The ensemble is at its prettiest when viewed at night from afar, in all its floodlit glory.

Hazratbal Mosque

Backing onto the Dal Lake north of the Old City, the large, luminous 20th-century Hazratbal Mosque is home to Kashmir’s holiest Islamic relic. The Moi-e-Muqqadas is a relic believed to be a strand of hair from Prophet Mohammed’s beard. Visitors are admitted except at prayer times.

Mughal Gardens

Srinagar is home to some beautiful Mughal gardens. Though lesser frequented, NishatBagh is believed by some to be prettier than the better known Shalimar Bagh. It has steeper terracing, and, as you stroll past fragrant magnolias, you can enjoy lovely panoramas of the Dal Lake.
