Sight Seeing

Jeep Safari
The gorgeous Chitwan National Park is home to a wide variety of creatures great and small, including the famed greater one-horned rhino, the majestic Bengal tiger, elephants, gharials, foxes, leopards and more. Head out into the jungle by dawn for the best chances of spotting these creatures of the wild.

Birdwatching
Chitwan is rightly considered a birdwatchers’ paradise. Exotic birds such as the highly endangered Bengal florican and the glorious paradise flycatcher, as well as a range of colourful sunbirds, kingfishers and jungle fowl, call this forest their home.

Elephant Safari
There is no better way to get close to the mysteries of the forest than by exploring it from atop an elephant. As you meander through the undergrowth, without the sounds of a vehicle to scare the animals away, you have better chances of a sighting.
Activities To Do

Get an adrenaline rush
The plentiful rivers that run through and around Chitwan National Park provide opportunities to get an unbelievable adrenaline rush. The Trishuli River, which falls en route to the park from Kathmandu, has whitewater rafting suitable to both beginners and more experienced rafters.

Have an exciting afternoon
The unique sport of elephant polo is a sight to be seen, and a popular game in Meghauli, where this sport was reputedly invented. Games are typically scheduled for the latter half of the year, so if you are visiting then, it is an experience not to be missed.

Gain a different perspective
A leisurely journey down one of the rivers in Chitwan on board a local canoe is a wonderful way to take in the beautiful forest. The river banks teem with bird life, and the setting itself, especially at sunrise or sunset when the mist rises over the water, is spectacular.
Shopping

Get some unique home décor
Colourful masks, traditionally used in the celebration of Buddhist festivals in Nepal, make for very unique souvenirs. You can find them at stores in the Narayangarh area of Bharatpur, a town nearby.

Hit the local markets
The markets in Bharatpur are where you can expect to find beautifully-carved Hindu and Buddhist iconography and sculptures. These pieces are crafted in a typically Nepali style, and are thought of as good luck charms for the homes they grace.

Find a distinctive artifact
You will find vibrantly-coloured Nepali puppets and dolls adorning the storefronts in Narayangarh. These bright figurines are a great way to take the memories of your holiday back home with you.
