The temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu at Simhachalam has incredible inscriptions dating back to the 11th century, as well as a 13th-century main shrine with carved stone panels. Located 16km outside Visakhapatnam, it is Andhra Pradesh’s second-most visited temple after Tirumala

The Submarine Museum

Sited within the decommissioned INS Kurusura, the Submarine Museum on Ramakrishna Beach is a fascinating showcase of life under the sea, in the form of artefacts, photographs, written scripts and instruments. Six guides and a curator – all retired Indian Navy personnel – add to the experience.

Look for souvenirs at the state government-run Lepakshi Emporium, which always has a wealth of local handicrafts, paintings, wood-carvings, toys, dhurries and other artefacts on offer. Ask for the Cherial folk paintings of scenes from Indian mythology.

Enjoy The Views From Kailasagiri
Rising over Beach Road, Kailasagiri Hill offers panoramic views of the city and the stunning coastline from seven viewing stations. In the public park on the hill, you will find a cable car, a toy train, giant statues of Lord Shiva and Parvati, playgrounds for the children and a few cafés.
