About Pakyoung

Gaining it's name from Lepcha legend that revered the dense bamboo forests in the region, Pa Yong...or 'Bamboo of the bow' is Pakyong, today. Tucked away in a quiet corner of the Eastern Himalayas, this lush, pastoral wonderland has terraced paddy fields intertwining with dense Bamboo forests and cultivation. Melt from the mountains flows down in numerous streams. Rich and varied Himalayan biodiversity abounds - in rare Orchids and other mountain blooms. At a short ride from Sikkim's only greenfield Airport at Pakyong, and a mere 31kms away from busy, bustling Gangtok,  this sparsely populated area has visitors well placed to explore the culture, customs, cuisine and many natural wonders that all of Sikkim has to offer.
