Trivandrum International Airport is about an hour away from Varkala by road. Flights are available from the airport to major cities in India, as well as to select international destinations.

Varkala Railway Station in town is the major railhead. Getting into Varkala by train is a good option if you are travelling from Trivandrum or Cochin. 

State-run air-conditioned buses run from Varkala to other cities in Kerala, including South Kerala and Kanyakumari.

Varkala is linked by state and national highways to all major cities in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
