Sustainability at Taj

As the pioneers of Indian hospitality, we understand the role we play in contributing to the destinations in which our hotels are located. Caring for the local community is an integral element of Tajness that is based on our brand promise ‘We sincerely care for you’. In the area of environmental responsibility, we have strengthened and refined our EARTH (Environment Awareness and Renewal at Taj Hotels) vision over the last year.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Our main CSR programs are Hospitality Skill Building and Entrepreneurship, Preservation of Traditional Arts and Crafts, The Responsible Neighbour Program, and Preservation and Promotion of Heritage Monuments.

Employee Volunteering

In keeping with the Tata ethos of giving back to the community, our colleagues participate in the Tata volunteering endeavours. In the year 2016-17, approximately 10,000 of our colleagues dedicated over 25,000 hours to facilitating livelihood opportunities, raising awareness of our skill building program among less privileged communities, promoting cleanliness in the local neighborhood, and organising medical camps in the villages we work in.

Safety

The success of our operational strategy hinges on ensuring the safety of our associates and guests. The three pillars of our safety protocols incorporate security, workplace safety and food quality checks. We constantly monitor and upgrade defined systems and processes to ensure all round awareness and training. Our safety vision is guided by not only by our own Safety Policy, but also the overarching Tata Code of Conduct and the Tata Safety Policy.

Taj Public Service Welfare Trust

The Taj Public Service Welfare Trust (TPSWT) was set up in December 2008, in the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attacks. Inspired by the resilience of survivors and the courage of those who came to their aid, our purpose is to reach out to people affected by disasters, both man-made and natural, with support to rebuild their lives. Our mandate is to extend relief, rehabilitation and other assistance to victims of terror, natural calamities and other tragic events that inflict damage to life and livelihoods.
