New Delhi, 6th April 2017: Taj Hotels Palaces Resorts Safaris, in partnership with The Luxury League, will host the inaugural Luxury Symposium at the Taj Palace, New Delhi on 7 April 2017. This all-day event is envisioned as a trailblazing forum to discuss how India’s incredible legacy of history, tradition and craftsmanship can be reimagined to brand it as a global producer of luxury products and services.

Our exciting line-up of panels has speakers and moderators of the highest calibre – public intellectuals, pioneers of business excellence, key members of the Indian parliament and bureaucracy, and distinguished media people. Decision makers and innovators such as the CEO of NITI-Ayog Amitabh Kant, H.H. Maharaja Gaj Singh Ji of Jodhpur, historian and textile revivalist Jasleen Dhamija, James Collard editor-in-chief Robb Report UK, veteran journalist Victoria Mather and Facebook’s country head Umang Bedi will be spearheading sessions on their domain expertise.

The Luxury Symposium 2017 team had a private audience with the President, Pranab Mukherjee on 6th April to share the vision and the agenda for this symposium, as well as seek advice and support from the government in the endeavour to brand Indian luxury globally.

Rakesh Sarna, MD and CEO, Taj Hotels Palaces Resorts Safaris said “Taj has a proud legacy of luxury, as the pioneer of the true Indian hospitality envisioned by Jamsetji Tata in 1902 and carried forward to this day by our more than 26,000 associates worldwide. Every day we strive to show our guests and partners around the world the real meaning of Indian heritage and traditions through our signature Tajness experience. The Luxury Symposium is a pioneering forum for industry leaders across sectors to come together to discuss the future of Indian luxury and we are proud to partner with The Luxury League to host this valuable platform and to establish the path forward for Brand India on the global Luxury stage.”

Ritu Beri, Founder of The Luxury League said “My desire is to strengthen the voice of India abroad and to open Indian doors to the world by showcasing our artistic talent through creative interactions and dynamic networking. The objective of the foundation is to brand Indian luxury globally, and to create an increased pool of knowledge and competence.”

Other panel discussions, chaired by guest moderators including Rajiv Makhni, Shobhaa De, Vir Sanghvi, and Sonal Kalra, will explore how technology is catalyzing innovation in the luxury industry, helping entrepreneurs to develop experiences that are beyond expectations against the backdrop of the increasing power of the millennial mindset to shape the market. A vital differentiator from extant luxury fora is that our panels include key policy makers – thus, these conversations can be expected to have a real and tangible impact on how Indian luxury is perceived, produced and consumed. Sessions will also focus on the heritage of Indian traditional textiles and craftsmanship as a foundation to grow India’s luxury profile worldwide, in addition to the reinvention of regal and ancient India to create truly unique luxury experiences.

The Luxury Symposium 2017 is also supported by the Government of India’s Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Tourism, Khadi India and the Ministry of Small & Medium Enterprises. France has lent its support as Country Partner.
