One of the most visited cities in the world, London is a wonderful blend of the charming old and the modern new. The city is a potpourri of ancient heritage, with stunning palaces and cathedrals and some of the world’s best museums. It also has lush green spaces, trendy stores and brilliant food.
The city has five airports – Heathrow, to the west; Gatwick to the south; Stansted to the northeast; Luton to the northwest; and London City in the Docklands. Most trans-Atlantic flights land at Heathrow, which is the largest.
London is well-connected by rail to other cities in Europe such as Paris, Brussels, Berlin, and Amsterdam, among others. The Eurostar high-speed railway service connects London to Paris and Brussels and operates from the St Pancras International Station.
Bus services to several domestic and international destinations operate to and from London at the Victoria Coach Station and other stations.
The extensive motorway network links London to the rest of the country, with the M1, M2, M3, M4, M11, M20, M23, M25 and M40 motorways at easy access to the city.
