The closest airport is Cochin International Airport, which is a two-hour drive away. Cochin connects well to the rest of India and select international destinations. 

The major railway station nearest to Kumarakom is at Kottayam, about 16km. Plan your departure from Kumarakom so be able to reach the station at least thirty minutes before your train’s departure time.

Bus services, run both by the Kerala State Run Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and by private operators, link Kumarakom with Kochi, Kottayam and other important cities in Kerala, as well as across the country. Many online travel portals offer advance booking facilities.

Kumarakom connects to the rest of India via Kochi, which connects to National Highways 66 (to Mumbai, Goa and Thiruvananthapuram), 544 (to Coimbatore and Bangalore), and 49 (to Madurai). It is linked to other parts of Kerala by state highways. Road and traffic conditions vary on these highways.
