Ernakulam is well served by Cochin International Airport, which has several daily flights from other Indian cities, and many flights from Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The airport is at Nedumbassery, about 27km from Ernakulam.

Ernakulam has two busy railway stations – Ernakulam Junction and Ernakulam Town – both connecting the city to different parts of Kerala and onwards through the country. As it is a hub for tourists exploring Kerala, plan to reach the station thirty minutes before your train is scheduled to leave.

The city of Ernakulam is connected to the national highway system via National Highway 47, which runs through the city and connects it to Coimbatore, Trissur and Pallakad. It is also linked to National Highways 17 and 49.

Private coaches and Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses regularly operate journeys to other South and Western Indian cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore and Mumbai.
