Full day Itinerary
Drive early to Galle, then see masks in Ambalangoda, turtles in Kosgoda and art at Brief Garden on your way back.
Bentota, set beautifully by the coast in Southern Sri Lanka, is the quintessential laidback seaside getaway, with an endless stretch of beach to laze on, enclosed by swaying palms. Explore the remnants of the Dutch and Portuguese rule here, or just let out your languourous side.
The Taj Bentota Resort & Spa is a discerning traveler’s sandy gem. This quieter, more stunning luxury beach resort offers uninterrupted beach views from the majority of rooms, the ineffable scent of ocean mist, and the humbling, rhythmic sound of the waves caressing the shore.
Bandaranaike International Airport, is the Sri Lanka’s primary airport, and is about three hours away from Bentota. The airport operates flights to Asia and the rest of the world.
As Sri Lanka is an island, it has no rail connections to other countries. While Bentota has a small railway station, most major trains stop at nearby Aluthgama.
Bus number 2, which is an air-conditioned service that runs from Colombo to Galle, makes a stop at Bentota. You will find more bus options at the nearby town of Aluthgama.
Sri Lanka has an extensive network of roads, and the drives, especially along the coast, are scenic. Bentota falls on the road between Colombo and Galle.
