Moplah Food Festival
From ancient times men of different faiths and from different cultures arrived on Kerala’s shores. Their influence is gleaned in the cuisine of the state as seen in the distinct cuisines in different regions and different communities. Among these cuisines is the flavourful cuisine of the Moplahs- the Malabari Muslims of Calicut.
To create an awareness and appreciation of Moplah cuisine that blends Arab and Kerala influences, Oudhyana is hosting the Moplah Festival. Painstakingly prepared and infused with the flavour of spices that Kerala is famous for, Moplah specialities are a delight for the palate. The festival menu features traditional refreshments like Muthari Sherbet; appetizers like Arikadukka, a Mopila classic which contains mussels stuffed with seasoned rice mixture, cooked in the shell, and Chemmeen Unda, seasoned shrimps encased in rice flour dumplings; biryanis; delicious kurumas and chicken, fish and prawn curries accompnied with traditional breads.
