Every six minutes a man, woman or a child dies on India’s roads, most of them of head injury

India, today, has the dubious distinction of being the 'head injury capital of the world' with over 1.5 million suffering every year.

His Highness Maharaja Gaj Singh II of Jodhpur, has taken up this cause as a personal crusade with the setting up of the Indian Head Injury Foundation. The IHIF presently carries out its mission in three different ways:

• Preventative Awareness & Information
• Pre-Hospital Care Education and
• Neuro Rehabilitation

Come March 2013, the Blue City of Jodhpur will metamorphose, as the brightest luminaries from the world of entrepreneurship, philanthropy, music, art, spirituality and science come together to make a difference. The first annual event of its kind, the Retreat will see the coming together of some of the greatest minds and talents to enlighten, energise, celebrate and transform lives. All for a burning cause that needs urgent intervention. The scourge of Head Injury.

ONE WORLD OF THOUGHT

With its underlying theme of 'A Beautiful Mind', the One World Retreat will bring together some of the world’s greatest thought leaders on the human brain. The aim is to stimulate the creation of a movement, that could change and transform the lives of millions of head injury and brain trauma victims across the Indian subcontinent.

ONE WORLD OF CULTURE

The performances at the magnificent 15th century Mehrangarh fort will include an Operatic magnum opus, Western Symphony with select Indian musical instrumentation. Plus Rajasthani Folk Music and Dance, all of which will create a soulful fusion, both refreshing and powerful.

ONE WORLD OF MUSIC

The Jodhpur One World Retreat is pleased to welcome one of the world’s most renowned musicians, Sting, as he performs live at a private, one-night only concert. The Retreat’s universal themes of hope, inspiration and healing harmonize beautifully with Sting’s timeless music.

ONE WORLD OF ACTION

An auction of carefully selected objets d'art. Fascinating heirlooms, antiques, jewellery and other heritage & handicraft treasures will go under the hammer at the magnificent Umaid Bhawan Palace, in support of the IHIF.

ONE WORLD OF FRIENDSHIP

The third and last day of the Retreat will have a Thanksgiving Brunch, hosted personally by Their Highnesses the Maharaja & Maharani; to express their gratitude and appreciation for all those who participated wholeheartedly in the Retreat.

Participation in the Retreat is strictly by invitation only. A donation to the Indian Head Injury Foundation covers the cost of participation including accommodation with full board for 2 nights, a personal chauffeur-driven sedan for the duration of the Retreat and the entire programme of the Opera, the Sting concert, the spiritual discourses and the auctions. Donations range from INR 10,00,000 to INR 30,00,000, linked in part to the accommodation option selected.
