When should a guest arrive for a spa treatment?
Guests should arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow time to check in, change, and familiarise themselves with the facility. Guests may also spend some time interacting with the doctors for clarification on the subject.

How should a guest make an appointment for a treatment?
The appointments will be scheduled on a first come-first served basis. The Ayurveda Centre recommends that guests book their appointments in advance to avoid disappointment.

What if a guest cannot make an appointment?
Appointments at the Taj Ayurveda Centre should be a top priority. Should guests have any definite issues related to not being able to make an appointment, guests should contact the doctor at the Centre and have an immediate check up.

Is there someone to help guests decide on the appropriate treatment?
Ayurveda treats the individual and not the disease; it is only after a personal examination of the patient that the actual diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment are determined. Moreover, the physician is the final authority when it comes to deciding the course and type of treatments. We encourage guests to send in their medical history well in advance so doctors can plan their course of action and the Program.

How many kinds of treatments are there and how should a guest choose?
Ayurveda treats a variety of diseases ranging from Migraine, Obesity, Arthritis, Spondilitis, Back problems, Diabetes, Blood Pressure, Skin allergies, and a number of other diseases. In most cases, it is a combination of more than one disease, and the doctor has to plan the treatment very carefully for effectiveness. If guests are not suffering from any particular disease, they can also participate in the Rejuvenation, Relaxation, and Detoxification Programmes available at the Centre.

Is there a limit to the number of treatments a guest should plan in a day?
Yes. In most cases, there is not more than one oil therapy session a day. At the end of a session, the whole body is exhausted as internal medication, prescribed by the doctors is also taken. Proper rest is recommended for the right benefit. Should the doctor feel that an additional particular treatment is needed, he will suggest one in advance and plan the treatment accordingly.

What activities can the guests undertake, if treatment is limited to two hours a day?
During the first week of the programme, a guest may swim, go sightseeing or shopping or even enjoy short walks to the beach. However as the programme advances to the second week, which is when the intensive phase starts, the guests will be advised by the doctors on the level of activities in which they can be involved.

What if guests have special health considerations?
Guests should notify the doctor of any illness or allergies or if they have had any specific treatments as well.

What should guest wear during their stay?
Calicut always experiences a warm climate, and guests should wear casual cotton wear. If it is the Monsoons between June and September then guests may wish to have a slightly thicker cotton wear.
During treatments, guests may wish to wear their own bikini or briefs, or the disposable cotton loin cloth provided at the Centre as they work with herbal oils. Our therapists will always use draping techniques to respect your privacy.

Can guests ask the therapist to accommodate their personal preferences and /or to adjust the treatment pressure to increase comfort?
We definitely want guests to raise their concerns with the therapists. Although the oil therapy may be concentrated on certain areas, the therapists will definitely not apply additional pressure. The doctors are there to guide and ensure that the best treatment is given to during a Programme.

Will a woman be given Ayurveda therapy during the menstruation period?
No. Therapy is not given to the individual during these days as the whole body is weak at this point of time and oil therapies and internal medication could aggravate the condition. It is therefore advisable for the individual to plan her programme in such a way that it does not coincide with this period.

What about my watch, jewellery, and valuables?
Guests should leave these personal items in their room as they are safe or at the locker at the Reception.
