Capital of the Chandela dynasty in the 9th and 10th centuries, Khajuraho is today a small village in the interiors of Central India. It is best known for its temples, adorned with erotic carvings. While there were once eighty five temples, only twenty five have survived. A dance festival is held here every year, in Feb-Mar.
