Nestled in the midst of 20 acres of magnificent gardens The Taj
West End is one of the finest hotels in Bangalore. The Taj West End has
welcomed guests for over a century and is more a legend than a hotel. Built
in 1887, as the city’s first hotel The Taj West End is an experience of
luxury in refined style and warm relaxed comfort. An understated elegance and
gothic architecture that has been meticulously preserved, gives The Taj West
End its unique character.
The hotel is centrally located - just 36 kms from the domestic and international
airports and close to the city's prime commercial, banking and shopping and
entertainment districts center. The hotel is opposite to Bangalore Turf Club
and is next to Bangalore Golf Club.
The Taj West End is one of the most memorable experiences travel can offer in
today's world. It offers every comfort and luxury but most importantly a piece
of Bangalore’s exciting history. Whether guests are on a super-charged
business trip or a relaxed getaway, the ambience charms everyone.
What sets apart this heritage hotel is the stamp of old world charm and colonial
architecture that’s been carefully preserved for over the centuries,
blended with the most modern amenities; distinctive bar and restaurants,
personalized butler service, rooms and villas interspersed over 20 acres of
landscaped greenery – truly the essence of The Taj West End experience.

Fact Sheet (English)
Hotel History
In 1887, Bangalore was a leafy British cantonment and all families owned a part of the city’s gardens. A British couple, Mr and Mrs Bronson opened a boarding house with ten beds. With the opening of the Suez-Canal, it became necessary to have an organized system of lodges, as more and more officers came into India. Bronson’s West End, the genteel boarding house, was efficiently run. In 1912, it passed into the hands of the Spencers. As the inn’s popularity grew, the Spencer’s felt the need to expand the facilities. Some of the inherently charming features of the architecture were the tiled roofs, distinctive gables, dormers, monkey-tops, trelliswork and intricately carved fascias. By 1984, Spencers entered into an agreement with the Indian Hotels Company Limited, which brought fresh life and idea of modern hospitality to the Taj West End.
