The Pierre, the iconic flagship of Taj Hotels on New York’s Fifth Avenue overlooking
Central Park,, re-opened on June 1, 2009 following a meticulous $100 million renovation
to create new guestroom and bath interiors and reconfigure first floor public areas
to accommodate a new restaurant and lobby lounge.
The first phase of the Pierre renovation was completed in January 2007, and included
the Grand Ballroom, the Cotillion Room & Foyer. All banquet and meeting rooms are
open, fully staffed and operative throughout the second phase of the renovation.
Even in a city where exclusive luxuries are the norm, there is one hotel that is
far more rare and special than the rest. Possessing a fabled Central Park location in Midtown Manhattan and legendary history, The Pierre continues to set the standard for elegance and
unrivalled hospitality.
The Pierre features the newest and most inviting guestrooms in the city. Staff outnumbers
guests by a ratio of three to one, allowing us to focus on anticipating a guest’s
every need. In addition, London's most fashionable restaurant is opening at The
Pierre, attributing to a completely new experience, while preserving the warmth
and understated elegance of The Pierre.
Food and Wine
We are proud to announce that Le Caprice, London's most fashionable restaurant, has crossed the pond to bring its unique brand of relaxed European cuisine to the edge of Central Park, exclusively at The Pierre.
Over the course of the past 62 years, Le Caprice has established itself as a social institution in London with its effortless style, coveted cuisine and well-heeled crowd.
Of all the captivating cities in the world, New York was the natural choice for Le Caprice's first foray outside London due to the City's classic style, charisma and distinguishing taste. The opening is also in homage to the many New Yorkers who have become regular visitors of the London restaurant over the past 30 years.
The main body of the dining room stretches along 61st Street and holds 80 guests; a long bar, specifically designed for up to 14 diners, runs down the side of the restaurant. Mirroring the London restaurant and maintaining its deep-seated commitment to the art world, Le Caprice New York houses a series of photographs of iconic sixties model Jean Shrimpton by legendary British photographer, David Bailey.
Long-standing favorites from the London restaurant such as Thai-baked sea bass, salmon fishcake with buttered spinach and sorrel sauce, crispy duck and watercress salad and Scandinavian iced berries with hot white chocolate sauce continue to appear within the newly designed New York menu.
Two E, named for the bar’s location at 2 East 61st Street, is open daily from 11 a.m. - 1 a.m. and can accommodate up to 80 people at the standing bar and a comfortable arrangement of tables. Attire: Smart Casual
