Taj Art Gallery

For decades, the Taj Art Gallery has been a coveted location for artists to display their work. In its previous avatar, names like S. H. Raza, Ram Kumar, V. S. Gaitonde, Jehangir Sabavala, and Laxman Shreshtha, have all graced this Gallery with their masterpieces. The re-launch of this prestigious Gallery in January 2016, marks the celebration of great artistic activity in India, especially from a young generation of artists working with painting, sculpture and a range of experimental media, all of which have found home at the Taj. Located on the first floor of the Palace, wing - this pristine white Gallery with three unique bays, is the perfect choice for an intimate showcase.

At the Taj, viewing art is always an experience.

The Mumbai Bazaar Tour
To get a true feel of Maximum City’s fabled ‘sensory overload’, its bazaars need to be experienced in all their chaotic splendour. The Taj Mahal Tower concierge curates a vibrant tour of Mumbai’s native market area of Bhuleshwar, at a 30 minutes drive from the hotel. Besides the 180 years old, perennially bustling Mangaldas and Crawford markets, the tour takes you to the iconic Jama Masjid, Zaveri Bazaar – Mumbai’s premier jewellery market, Phool Galli – the city’s oldest flower market, and Mumbadevi temple, named after and dedicated to the patron goddess of the original archipelago of seven islands that formed the city. From classic street food to amazing architecture, terrific shopping discoveries and the occasional bovine encounter, this is a delightful snapshot of must-dos in mercurial Mumbai.
