About Bandhavgarh National park
Nestled in the Vindhya range, the breathtakingly beautiful Bandhavgarh National
Park features a millennium-old fort, tropical forests and woodlands, steep rocky
hills and grassland valleys, a reclining statue of Lord Vishnu and the dense Sal
jungle - making it one of the most dramatic landscapes in the country.
Flora & Fauna
Bandhavgarh boasts a staggering variety of trees and foliage, with almost half the
park's area covered with fine trees. The top of the hills are carpeted with mixed
forests, while beautiful stretches of bamboo and grasslands spread across the north.
Bandhavgarh is known across the world for its dense big cat population. But there's much more to see besides the tigers and leopards. Chital (spotted deer), Sambar deer, dhole, nilgai, wild boar, chinkara, sloth bear, rhesus macaque, black faced langur, jungle cat, hyena, porcupine, jackal, fox and wild dog also inhabit these forests.

Other Local Attractions
The park also has wonderful ancient caves and rock shelters, with historic shrines
and inscriptions. You can step out of the park into the nearby village of Tala,
where you can pick up exotic local arts and crafts. The Bhaghela Museum also awaits
you with its exquisite exhibits from the private collection of the Maharaja of Rewa
- the famed stuffed white tiger, Mohan, military and hunting paraphernalia, a carved
ivory and silver chess set and an extravagant swing bench made of Belgian cut glass
and silver.
