The recently enlarged Lounge is ideal for traditional Afternoon Tea (View Menu) or for relaxing with a glass of port or champagne while listening to Taj’s very own harpist.
The gracious conviviality of tea in this elegant chandeliered and mirrored setting with opulently draped windows overlooking fashionable Newbury Street as a harpist plays is a Boston tradition. The elegant setting is in the space that was the original 1927 ballroom. The décor, including original paintings, sculptures, high-backed upholstered chairs and inviting sofas, is ideal for Afternoon Tea. Time stops and the art of sophisticated pampering takes over. Even Britain’s Prince Edward has enjoyed afternoon tea in this timeless setting.
From Connoisseur grade Jasmine Pearl to Thunderbolt Darjeeling, Vanilla Earl Grey, Shanghai Rose, Lapsang Souchong/Pine Needle Smoke, Mountain Berry, Certified Organic Peppermint and Taj Blend Spiced Chai, it is a harmonious adventure of bouquet, flavor and appearance.
Now the added luxury of these aromatic spiced and floral selections will complement the gleaming silver tiered trays of delectable sweets, sandwiches and scones. The new menu was created by Executive Chef Franck Steigerwald to be specially paired with the teas.
