This captivating city is popularly known as the Golden City because of the honey colour imparted to its stone ramparts by the rays of the setting sun.
One of the main attractions is the imposing 12th century Jaisalmer Fort. The beautiful havelis are another interesting aspect of the desert city. The best way to explore the vast desert landscape and sand dunes is on camel back as part of a camel safari, October to February being the best time.
